  • Dr. Heather Walter is an Assistant Professor of Education and Senior Scholar at the Center for the Advancement of Wellbeing at George Mason University. With over 15 years of experience, she brings expansive interdisciplinary knowledge to her work, drawing from diverse educational and community settings to support individuals and teams in achieving their full potential.

    Heather specializes in change management and systems-level transformation, bridging her expertise in education with corporate and organizational contexts. Her work focuses on teaching and coaching strategies, recruiting and retaining top talent, and fostering organizational wellbeing as a foundation for meaningful, lasting change.

    She thrives in collaborating across fields, disciplines, and research, integrating robust research, data collection, and analysis with leadership and wellbeing practices to co-create evidence-based recommendations and empower organizations to confidently chart their path to success. Her approach leads to increased trust, better job alignment, and sustainable, real-time outcomes that drive impact across every level of a system.

She has written over 20 articles in premier research and practice journals, and has been recognized for her teaching and contributions to mixed methods research and policy in educator wellbeing through prestigious awards. Her service supports the alignment between research, practice, and cross-disciplinary needs. to support complex problem-solving at the local, regional, university, and national levels.

  • Ella Cooper is the Strategic Design and Social Media Manager at Heather Walter Consulting. A full-time student at the University of Maryland, she studies Communication, with a minor in Nonprofit Leadership & Social Innovation. She is also pursuing a graduate degree in Management Studies through the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Ella serves as the Strategic HR Intern at Hillel International, a Consultant at UMD’s Oral Communication Center, an Ambassador for the Do Good Institute, as well as a Freelance Editor. 

    Ella thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments where attention to detail and precision are key. Known for her strong interpersonal skills and knack for understanding people, she brings active listening, empathy, leadership, and problem-solving to every project. With a growing background in human resources, she has supported large-scale data analysis, policy research, intern engagement initiatives, and crafted clear, visually compelling communications for stakeholders. As a content creator, Ella is proficient in Canva, Instagram (Reels), TikTok, LinkedIn, Google Slides, Google Sites, Squarespace, and Facebook. She specializes in social media strategy and website design, consistently creating engaging and thoughtful content that aligns with organizational goals.
